The place where the Brecon Fringe Festival and Brecon Jazz Festival meet’! It’s bigger and better than ever and needs you!

This year the theme is ’40 years of Brecon Jazz Festival’.

In tune with the wider festival, we celebrate this epic achievement and the place the Jazz festival holds in the hearts, history and soul of the town (note our ruby mountains!).

The biggest names in Jazz and an international buzz have trickled through this mid-Wales town throughout the years. The festival has also always had a hands-on, community, home-grown element.

This inspires the ‘Frazz’ to create space for the local community to get involved and bring together people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

This year, thanks to grant funding totalling £6,445 awarded by Bannau Brycheiniog’s Sustainable Development Fund, Community Foundation Wales’ Fund for Wales BIG and Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust, we have artist-led workshops for parade props, hats and jazzy umbrellas, plus junk instrument making with Community Music Wales in the week running up to the event and on the day of the Parade so you can ‘jazz’ up your buggies, prams, kids scooters, etc. You’ll also get the opportunity to learn percussion before ‘Frazz’ parade set off.

It’s great to see local schools taking part in making ‘Frazz’ parade banners. You’ll see creations from Ysgol Cradoc, Mount Street Infants & Nursery School,  Llanfaes Community Primary, Ysgol Y Bannnau, Brecon High School and Christ College Brecon’s St Nicholas.

Continuing the tradition of the parade’s early years, we’re inviting a band to accompany the ‘Frazz’. This year we are thrilled to have Cardiffs’ own Wonder Brass!

If you’d like to help out and join the Frazz team, we meet regularly, year-round to arrange fundraising musical events, and children’s workshops (dates soon to be published) and to ensure we give our community the best Frazz Parade we can.
